     The dexterous spread of my master-arbeit

    Anas Ejaz Yasmeen Shaikh  #Member Profile

    Its that time of the Spring Semester when the thesis submissions are on their way and the deadlines are just around the corner. I reminisced my own ol'days back in 2020 when I was writing my master's thesis or master-arbeit auf Deutsch!! This reminiscence led me to write a poem wherein I describe my Werkstatt! I hope my fellow KGPians and those around the world at large who are writing their theses will relate to it and enjoy every bit of this wonderful experience despite the accompanying stress. Do you think that the contrasting ideas of a wonderful experience and the stress could have influenced the figures of speech in the poem? Do memories have so much strength as to bring back the mixture of emotions that one felt as long as five years back merely by revisiting a picture to an extent that they influence our expression?

    The dexterous spread of my master-arbeit

    - Anas Ejaz Yasmeen Shaikh

    With the curtains that led the summer light in a little bit;
    and the scribe's tool that filled one after another sheet;
    with scribbles that shadowed and were sweet,
    as if its ink was chocolate.

    And the books that piled at the back,
    provided the wisdom for the paper sack.
    The old sack held the new sheets;
    its a fertile soil that nurtured the seeds.

    With that summer light, the seeds grew;
    and on the dexterous spread, the sheets flew;
    into the sack, the sheets compiled;
    and soon it formed the tree of my master-arbeit.
